Team manager Stefan Laux: “Lucy Michel needs to step out of her comfort zone”
The heat battle at the Misano World Circuit was a challenge not only for Andreas Kofler. The Yamaha rider once again failed to score his first points in the 2026 Supersport World Championship.

Andreas Kofler also missed out on the points in his sixth outing in the 2026 Supersport World Championship - but the Austrian is not alone in this: QJ factory riders Raffaele De Rosa and Marcos Ramirez, 300cc and WorldWCR World Champion Ana Carrasco (Honda), Oliver König (Triumph), Borja Jimenez (Ducati), Leonardo Taccini (Ducati) and Jacopo Cretaro (MV Agusta) share the fate of the 21-year-old from Vöcklabruck.
And it has to be said: Kofler is the only competitor this year to be making an appearance in the World Championship with his own team, which is a feat in itself.
At the Misano World Circuit, points finishes were unrealistic for the Yamaha rider anyway after 28th place in qualifying. As 28th and 30th in the two races, Kofler is taking the positives with him.
"Basically, we made good progress and, on the whole, things didn't go badly, but the course of the races wasn't really happy," said the two-time IDM champion. "I managed to avoid a crash [in the first race], but I hit the brake system with my upper body and damaged the fluid reservoir. It then broke and I had to pit. We were then only able to use the rest of the race for practice laps. The start was good and I had a good group, but the problem with the brakes meant that nothing more was possible."
Kofler had a different problem in the even hotter Sunday race. "We made a few changes to the set-up and unfortunately got it wrong. We wanted to try something, but in the end I was a bit out of luck in the race," regretted the Upper Austrian. "Now we have a break, which we want to use to improve in the second half of the season. Donington won't be easy, because I've never been on this track before. But I'm already used to difficult tasks this year and we will give everything as a team."
