New contract confirmed! Isack Hadjar to stay with Red Bull Racing

On Tuesday morning ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, it was announced that Isack Hadjar is fully fit again and is returning to the wheel of his Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car. Then, on Wednesday morning, came the next piece of good news: Hadjar and Red Bull Racing have extended their contract through to 2027.

Isack Hadjar joined Red Bull Racing at the start of this season, when the new regulations came into force. In 2025, he drove for the sister team, Racing Bulls. There, he impressed with a 12th-place finish in an underperforming car and a podium finish at Zandvoort, and was consequently promoted to partner four-time world champion Max Verstappen for 2026. Including the Hungarian Grand Prix before the summer break, Hadjar has already racked up an impressive 34 Formula 1 Grand Prix starts. He currently sits eighth in the World Championship standings, although he has also missed three race weekends (three Grand Prix and one sprint race). In Monaco, he secured the second podium of his career to date.

The period following the summer break proved challenging for Hadjar. He injured his wrist over the summer. As a result, he missed three Grands Prix. He said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel. The last month has been difficult for me. It’s the first time in my life that I haven’t been racing, and it’s a strange feeling that I’ve had to get used to.” Now he’s back behind the wheel – and, fittingly, the next bit of good news is already here!

Red Bull Racing team principal Laurent Mekies: “We’re delighted to continue our journey with Isack. Since joining us at the start of the season, he’s been brilliant both on and off the track, especially when you consider that this is only his second season in Formula 1. That made the decision on his contract an easy one for us. Right from the start, Isack has settled into the team very well; he’s keen to learn and improve, spends a lot of time with the engineers at the factory and works on developing the car. You could already see in Melbourne that he handled the next step very well and deserves a seat.”
