Florian Alt (Honda) has been disqualified following the second Oschersleben race

The DMSB race stewards have disqualified Florian Alt (Holzhauer Racing Promotion) following the second round of the Euro Moto Superbike at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The Honda rider had initially been classified in third place.

The decision was based on a protest lodged by the GERT56 by RS Speedbikes team against the results of the second race. After examining the facts and deliberating for several hours, the Stewards concluded that the motorcycle fielded by Holzhauer Racing Promotion had not been rebuilt in accordance with the procedure laid down in the regulations for the reconstruction of a motorcycle declared beyond repair following a total write-off.

Florian Alt had crashed in the first race as a result of an oil spill, which had been caused by engine failure on Twan Smits’ Yamaha. Alongside Florian Alt, Markus Reiterberger, Toni Finsterbusch and Kevirn Orgis also crashed. The motorbikes involved were significantly damaged in the incident.

In the end, the points were lost

According to the technical regulations in the Euro Moto Superbike series, the ‘one-bike rule’ applies. Following a total write-off, rebuilding the bike using a replacement frame that complies with the regulations is permitted, provided that it is pre-configured only to the extent permitted by the regulations and that the rebuilt bike meets the prescribed requirements. The race stewards determined that no evidence could be provided to show that the motorbike used in the second race had been rebuilt in accordance with the regulations.

Florian Alt’s result in the second Superbike race was therefore struck from the results. The Holzhauer Racing Promotion team has announced that it will lodge an appeal against the Stewards’ decision.

The disqualification has no impact on Alt’s position in the overall standings. He remains in 4th place, whilst Marcel Schrötter has increased his points tally to 122 as a result of the revised results, reducing the gap to championship leader Lukas Tulovic by three points.
