World Championship leader Maximo Quiles (Aspar) successfully operated on following a serious crash

World Championship leader Maximo Quiles was forced to miss the Moto3 race at Silverstone. The Aspar rider had broken his right collarbone in a heavy crash during qualifying on Saturday.

The Spaniard then returned home, where he underwent successful surgery on Sunday. “Now it’s time to recover and come back stronger than ever,” Quiles posted defiantly on his Instagram account. “Many thanks to the medical team for their work and to all of you for your messages.”

Quiles: 85-point lead over Alvaro Carpe

Quiles now has a good two and a half weeks to recover. The next event takes place in Aragon from 28 to 30 August. It is currently uncertain whether he will be able to compete in his home race, but the chances of him doing so are not bad.

In his absence, Intact rider David Almansa won at Silverstone. Alvaro Carpe (KTM Ajo) and Valentin Perrone (KTM Tech3) finished second and third respectively. In the World Championship standings, Maximo Quiles holds a comfortable 85-point lead over Carpe ahead of the final ten races of the 2026 season.
