Technical highlights and innovations

In Culitzsch, technical highlights from the 1960s, 70s and 80s will be on display live and in action. Many of the technical solutions developed back then set the course for the further development of motocross.

More than 50 teams with over 150 riders have submitted their entries. Countries represented include the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Hungary, Belgium, France, Slovakia and Germany.

The track

The reddish hard-pack track in Culitzsch is popular with riders and spectators alike. Located right next to the A72 motorway, the track is easy to reach. The starting bend has been specially redesigned for this classic event.

Spectators can see most of the track from the grandstand. There is ample parking available in the immediate vicinity. At 5 euros, admission prices remain extremely reasonable and family-friendly. Children up to the age of 14 get in free.

Nations points system

As with the Motocross of Nations, scoring follows the Olympic system: place = point. The team with the lowest total number of points wins. Of a team’s six results, five count towards the total; the worst result is discarded.

Tim Koch on the starting grid

The fact that Classic Motocross is by no means just a gathering of veterans is demonstrated by the participation of Tim Koch. The 33-year-old was still competing in World Championship and ADAC MX Masters rounds until last year and will be racing in the EVO class at Culitzsch.

Classic weekend with a packed programme

MC Culitzsch is offering a free practice session as early as Thursday. On Friday, the teams will be presented in the marquee from 7.00 pm. Saturday begins at 8.00 am with the practice sessions.

This will be followed at 12.30 pm by the grand riders’ parade with a fan procession, before the championship races get underway at 1.00 pm. Further information is available on the MC Culitzsch Facebook page.

The film features highlights from the 2024 Classic race. It also features an interview with Michael Koch, the grandfather of Tim and Tom Koch.
