Guillem Farres (Triumph) wins and takes the World Championship lead

Stage 12 of the MX2 Motocross World Championship at Foxhills, Grand Prix of Great Britain: Pole-setter and defending champion Simon Längenfelder (KTM) took the holeshot in the decisive second race, but Guillem Farres attacked from the outset and forced the German into a mistake. Simon went over the front wheel in the upper section of the freshly watered track and dropped back to third place behind Farres and Coenen. Coenen was quickly able to overtake Längenfelder, but by that point Farres already had a lead of 4 to 5 seconds.

Halfway through the race, Längenfelder had closed the gap on the leading Farres and had put himself in a good position on several occasions. The German had already overtaken the Spaniard twice, but Farres countered each time and ultimately retained the lead.

Sacha Coenen was more than just playing catch-up

Red Bull KTM factory rider Sacha Coenen (KTM) started in third place and also had a few tricky moments in this race. In the second half of the race, he dropped back to fifth place and, given the circumstances of his recently operated collarbone fracture, was doing little more than damage control, even though he lost the World Championship lead.

Liam Everts’ crash cost him a podium finish

A minor crash by Liam Everts (Husqvarna) cost the Belgian a potential podium finish. In the end, Everts and Mc Lellan were level on points. The tiebreaker in favour of the South African was his better performance in the second race.

Guillem Farres takes the World Championship lead

With his third consecutive victory, Guillem Farres also took the World Championship lead and will line up with the World Championship leader’s red plate at the next Grand Prix in Loket. His lead over Sacha Coenen stands at 11 points. Simon Längenfelder, in third place, trails by 42 points.
