Di Giannantonio aims to make amends for the Sachsenring disaster at Silverstone

Fabio Di Giannantonio had a difficult weekend at the Sachsenring in early July, at the final Grand Prix before the summer break. In Saturday’s sprint race, the Ducati star still managed to finish on the podium, but he crashed in Sunday’s main race. His retirement meant he dropped crucial points in the title race.

The VR46 rider currently lies fifth in the overall standings with 184 points. However, he is only 24 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin (Aprilia). At Silverstone, the Roman is keen to go on the attack again and fight for victories – after the summer break of just under four weeks, ‘Diggia’ is highly motivated.

“I’m delighted to be back on the racetrack! During the summer break, I was able to relax and recharge my batteries. But I’ve also been training – something I wasn’t able to do before because of my finger injury,” said Di Giannantonio ahead of the British Grand Prix. “I was also out on the track, riding both the Panigale and the minibike – we’ve been working to ensure we’re as well prepared as possible for Silverstone. The circuit is very long, similar to Austin, which is why I love it!”

Last year, Di Giannantonio secured a podium finish in the MotoGP Sprint at the fast British circuit. He finished ninth in the Grand Prix. “We’re heading to the UK in good spirits: last year I secured a place on the Sprint podium at this circuit, and we want to bounce back after the mistake at the Sachsenring,” emphasised the 27-year-old. “We’ve got a great package, and I’m looking forward to proving our potential. The weather could play a decisive role, but we’ll be ready whatever the conditions.”
