Rob Hodson wins the Junior 600 Classic TT ahead of Baz Furber and Joe Yeardsley

The Junior 600 Classic TT brings the day to a close. With Michael Dunlop pulling out of the race, the role of favourite falls to Joe Yeardsley. The 29-year-old local hero, who first made a name for himself in 2023 with his victory in the Senior Manx Grand Prix, beat British rider Baz Furber by over 20 seconds in qualifying.

Surprisingly, however, it is not Yeardsley who leads at the first split time, but Rob Hodson ahead of Michael Russell and Furber. He is even in fifth place, behind Tom Robinson. Before heading onto the Mountain Mile, Hodson has a lead of almost eight seconds over Furber, whilst Russell is in third place ahead of Marcus Simpson and Yeardsley.

It is also Hodson who is in the lead after the first of two laps. He is the only rider to clock a lap time under 19 minutes. Furber and Russell are the frontrunners for a place on the podium, but Yeardsley is slowly gaining momentum and has reduced his gap to Russell to 7.2 seconds.

Whilst the positions in first and second place remain unchanged, Yeardsley moves up to third place at Ballaugh Bridge. Although Russell leaves no stone unturned in his attempt to break back into the top three, he remains in fourth place. Furber crosses the finish line just ahead of Yeardsley, with his engine switched off. Hodson is therefore the first to have his name engraved on the trophy.
