Even before the international sidecars took to the track as part of the supporting programme for the solo race at the ‘Golden Band of the Town of Olching’, one team faced a disappointment. Markus Brandhofer and his new passenger, Mika Bacher, were there and wanted to take part in the race; however, due to a problem with Bacher’s one-day licence, the sidecar pair were not allowed to start. Whilst the pair were left to watch from the sidelines, the battle for overall victory unfolded on the track. From as early as the second heat, one team pulled clearly ahead of the competition and dominated the race from then on.
It was Manuel Meier and Lena Siebert who secured victory with a commanding performance. The duo won three of their five heats and collected 13 out of a possible 15 points. As there was no final, the overall points total determined the final placings.
Behind the winning pair, Imanuel Schramm and Lene Laise took second place with six points. Achim Neuendorf and Johannes Schnaitter also scored six points to finish in third place.
For Moritz Straub and David Kersten, the final race was unfortunate: a ruptured methanol hose led to fuel supply problems and forced the pair to retire. They finished the competition in fourth place with five points.
