GT World Challenge season finale in Portimão brought forward to Saturday

During the event at Magny-Cours, the GT World Challenge Europe announced that the season finale in Portimão would be brought forward to Saturday 17 October in order to minimise the impact of the clash with the FIA WEC in Barcelona. The FIA WEC will be taking place at the same time in Barcelona; the race in Spain replaces the planned race in Qatar. It was not possible for either of the two racing series to reschedule to a different weekend.

Around 20 drivers, several teams and a number of paddock personnel are involved in both series. By bringing the race forward, the SRO aims to enable all those involved to take part in both events.

The three-hour race on the undulating circuit on the Algarve coast will now start on Saturday at 5.00 pm local time and finish after dark. Qualifying will take place on Friday from 5.55 pm.

Alongside the GT World Challenge Europe, the GT4 European Series, the GT2 European Series and the McLaren Trophy Europe will also be competing in Portimão. The other series will each hold one race on Sunday to conclude their seasons, with the GT2 European Series even running both races.
