Serious crash for Maximilian Spies (KTM) in Vellahn: cervical vertebrae fractured

German Becker Racing rider Maximilian Spies crashed at the end of Saturday’s race at the 6th round of the ADAC MX Masters in Vellahn and had to receive medical attention at the side of the track. The race was stopped with a red flag for safety reasons.

Cervical spine injury

According to initial reports, Maximilian Spies has sustained fractures in his cervical spine, which have already been surgically stabilised. Fortunately, no signs of paralysis were detected. The operation is said to have been successful, although it is anticipated that a further operation will be necessary.

Selection for the MXoN

Maximilian Spies has been nominated by the DMSB for the Motocross of Nations. As things stand, he will not be able to compete in Ernée.
