Vellahn: Jörgen Talviku (Yamaha) wins, Roan van de Moosdijk is champion

Estonian SHR Yamaha rider Jörgen Matthias Talviku won the 6th round of the ADAC MX Masters in Vellahn with victories in all three races ahead of Roan van de Moosdijk (Kosak KTM), for whom three second-place finishes were enough to secure the title defence ahead of schedule.

Maximilian Spies’ season ends prematurely following a crash

Becker Racing rider Maximilian Spies, who suffered a heavy crash at the end of Saturday’s race and sustained fractures to his cervical vertebrae, has been forced to end his season early. According to initial reports, the operation at hospital was successful and there are no signs of paralysis. It is to be hoped that the ‘White Giant’ from Ortrand will make a full recovery.

Jörgen-Matthias Talviku unstoppable

Talviku, who competes in the World Championship for Jacky Martens’ Fantic works team, won both Sunday races and, with the maximum 75 points, was the day’s winner at Vellahn. In the standings, the Estonian moved up from 7th to 3rd place. Third on the podium was the Finnish Schmicker Racing KTM rider Jere Haavisto with a 3-4-3 result.

Tom Koch on course for second place overall

Although Tom Koch (Sarholz KTM) missed out on the podium with a 4-5-4 result, he consolidated his second place in the overall standings with a haul of 52 points. He heads to the season finale at Drehna with a 46-point lead over Talviku in third place and is therefore well placed to finish the season in second place overall.

Results for the German riders

Sarholz rider Noah Ludwig posted the best individual result for a German rider with third place in the second race. Tom Koch was the best-placed German rider, finishing fourth in the overall standings. Local hero Cato Nickel (Honda) was involved in a thrilling battle with Finland’s Emil Weckmann (Yamaha) for seventh place in the first race on Sunday. With results of 11–7–9, Nickel finished his home race in seventh place overall.

Finale in Drehna

The ADAC MX Masters season finale will take place on 26 and 27 September in Drehna. Although the title has already been decided in favour of Roan van de Moosdijk, the battle for the podium places will remain exciting right up to the end.
