According to the latest information, the three Moto2 chassis manufacturers involved – Kalex, Boscoscuro and Forward – will still be on board in 2027 and must prepare accordingly. Some details have now emerged: the new engine will be two kilograms lighter and deliver around six per cent more power. This is not a facelift, but a completely new power unit. The confidential data was sent to the chassis manufacturers just under a year ago. However, the designers at Kalex, Boscoscuro and Forward have not yet seen the engine.
In the meantime, the first frames featuring new engine and swingarm mounts have been produced. The next steps: all three manufacturers will carry out a test run with the new engine at Motorland Aragon. The dates set are 1 and 2 September – Tuesday and Wednesday following the Grand Prix weekend. Each manufacturer will receive one engine.
According to the latest information, each chassis manufacturer can nominate two riders as test riders. Kalex is expected to be on site with the Spanish riders David Alonso and Dani Holgado from the Aspar team. However, neither of them will be riding the bike in 2027. As things stand, the Italian Boscoscuro team has nominated VR46 protégé Celestino Vietti and Luna Lunetta. At Forward, it is Alex Escrig, who will move to Kalex customer Italtrans in 2027.
