Another setback: Tim Gajser (Yamaha) pulls out of MXoN in Ernée

The season is drawing to a close and the injury list continues to grow. After Yamaha factory rider Tim Gajser had already declared his season over following the Turkish Grand Prix, there were fears that the Slovenian superstar would also be unable to compete in the Motocross of Nations on 4 October in Ernée. Tim Gajser sustained rib injuries at the MXGP of the Netherlands in Arnhem. At the subsequent Turkish Grand Prix, he continued to ride despite increasing pain, which caused the injury to worsen. A subsequent medical examination led to the decision to end the season early.

5th place in 2025

Team Slovenia finished last year’s MXoN in a respectable 5th place with Gajser, Pancar and Peklaj in the line-up, and Jan Pancar (KTM) in particular impressed with a 3rd-place finish in the second race.

Lukas Osek has been nominated

Lukas Osek has now been nominated as the third rider. “Despite the challenging situation, the Slovenian Federation has decided that Slovenia will take part in the MXoN,” explained team manager Sascha Kragelj. “For younger riders, the MXoN represents a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience at the very highest level, to compete alongside the world’s best riders, and to experience the atmosphere and pressure of one of the most important events in international motocross. These experiences are extremely important for their long-term development and can help prepare them for future challenges at the very highest level of the sport. For the AMZS, therefore, the MXoN is not just about the result, but also about investing in the future of Slovenian motocross and creating opportunities for the next generation of riders to develop into top competitors.”

Slovenia’s objectives

“Lukas is currently leading the Open Class championship in Slovenia, which is why I chose him,” Kragelj continued. “The fact is, however, that Tim Gajser is irreplaceable, and this will certainly affect the Slovenian team’s result. Nevertheless, we remain positive and are travelling to Ernée with a young team to gain new experience.”
