Jeffrey Herlings (Honda) wins the Grand Prix of Australia in Darwin

Jeffrey Herlings (Honda), who had already been crowned MXGP World Champion ahead of the season finale in Darwin (Australia), won the Australian Grand Prix with victories in both races.

Race 1: Herlings dominates

French HRC works rider Tom Vialle took the holeshot in the first race ahead of Jeffrey Herlings and Romain Febvre (Kawasaki). Herlings moved for the lead on the very first lap, passing Vialle on the inside. Vialle then struggled with a technical problem and waved his rivals past. The Frenchman focused on damage limitation in fourth place. Jeffrey Herlings won the first race with a 18-second lead over Romain Febvre and Andrea Adamo.

Race 2: Herlings wins as expected

Tom Vialle also took the holeshot in the second race ahead of Pauls Jonass (Kawasaki), Andrea Adamo (KTM), Calvin Vlaanderen (Ducati) and Jeffrey Herlings (Honda). Herlings fought his way forward step by step and caught up with the leader on lap 13, putting Vialle under pressure and forcing him into a mistake, allowing ‘The Bullet’ to pass on the inside. In the final three laps, Vialle had to let his compatriot Romain Febvre (Kawasaki) pass him. Jeffrey Herlings won the second race by a margin of 3.6 seconds ahead of Febvre, Vialle and Adamo.

Tom Vialle finished fourth

Whilst the podium places in the overall World Championship standings had already been decided, the battle for fourth place was still on between Vialle and Adamo. Vialle finished the Grand Prix in second place with a 4-3 result, and this result secured the Frenchman fourth place in the final standings of the 2026 MXGP World Championship. Swiss KTM rider Jeremy Seewer finished the Grand Prix in eighth place with two eighth-place finishes.
