Marquez warns about Silverstone: It can turn the race on its head

Marc Marquez (Ducati) also used the MotoGP summer break to go on holiday or take part in various training sessions. The champion was often spotted on his road bike, and last week he was out riding a Ducati Panigale V2 S at MotorLand Aragón.

This weekend, the action continues with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Following his one-two finish at the Sachsenring in early July, Marquez is keen to continue his winning streak on British soil. In the overall standings, the 33-year-old currently sits third, just 18 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin (Aprilia).

An extremely demanding circuit

“It was a perfect weekend in Germany, where we made the most of every opportunity and scored as many points as possible, which has moved us up to third place in the championship,” Marc Marquez reflected. “I used the three-week break to relax a little, but also to recharge my batteries and carry on training. Silverstone is a long and extremely demanding circuit, where you have to muster a lot of physical strength. What’s more, there’s always the unpredictability of the weather, which, as usual, can turn the race on its head.”

Ducati has secured three Grand Prix victories at Silverstone to date – Andrea Dovizioso (2017), Pecco Bagnaia (2022) and Enea Bastianini (2024). Marc Marquez claimed his only MotoGP victory at the Silverstone Circuit during the 2014 season (whilst still riding for Honda). In 2025, he finished second in the Sprint and third in the Grand Prix.
