Superbike ace Remy Gardner (28): Pushing himself to the absolute limit at the Red Bull Romaniacs

Things aren’t quite going to plan for Remy Gardner in the 2026 Superbike World Championship, but this is also down to Yamaha’s general lack of form. After eight of twelve rounds, his tally of 45 points is modest – and the Australian sits in just 17th place in the overall standings.

The 28-year-old may well have discovered a new passion during the long summer break. To keep fit during the race-free weeks, Gardner began riding enduro and hard enduro some time ago. The Moto2 World Champion has now even taken on the toughest event in this discipline: the Red Bull Romaniacs!

Over five days (a prologue and four days of racing), the participants push themselves to their limits and beyond. The Australian lined up in the Silver category. His aim was simply to finish. First things first: Gardner overcame every challenge and finished his first Romaniacs appearance in 34th place in his category, 7 hours and 32 minutes behind the leader!

The exertion clearly far exceeded what the Yamaha rider was used to from a Superbike weekend. “When you think at the first service point that the day is almost over, I still had four hours to go before the finish,” explained the delighted finisher. “What an incredible four days of tough enduro in the mountains. That’s proper hardcore stuff – with over 27 hours of racing time.”

This year’s Red Bull Romanics – the 23rd edition – was won by Manuel Lettenbichler for the seventh time. The KTM rider won three of the four off-road stage wins and secured victory with a lead of over an hour.
