Preview and schedule for the Swedish Grand Prix in Uddevalla

The Motocross World Championship visits the oldest track on the World Championship calendar this coming weekend. The first World Championship Grand Prix in the 500cc class took place there on 17 August 1958. Since then, 27 World Championship rounds have been held here. The weather forecast is almost ideal, with sunshine, light cloud and daytime highs of 20 degrees. The hard-surface track is set amidst a striking rock formation.

Drama of the 2025 season

Uddevalla 2025 was a prime example of what a home advantage can mean for riders. Local hero Isak Gifting rose to the occasion in the second race, overtaking Romain Febvre on the final lap to take the lead. But instead of a race win, the hero, cheered on by the fans, came away empty-handed, as he crashed just a few bends from the finish.

Jeffrey Herlings unstoppable

Back to the present: following his commanding Grand Prix victories at Lommel, Loket and Foxhill – and with Lucas Coenen (KTM) failing to finish – Dutch HRC works rider Jeffrey Herlings heads to Scandinavia with a 104-point lead and is therefore certain to retain the World Championship lead.

Lucas Coenen: Not competing in Sweden

Lucas Coenen (KTM) will not be competing in Uddevalla and is continuing his rehabilitation from an injury to his left hip.

MX2: Can Sacha Coenen mount a comeback?

Things could get really exciting once again in the MX2 World Championship in Sweden, as Sacha Coenen – who broke his collarbone just under five weeks ago at the Southwick National in the USA – is likely to be fit again by now. At any rate, the Belgian looked competitive again a week ago at the Keiheuvel International in Mol (Belgium). He will be going all out in Sweden to reduce his 47-point deficit to World Championship leader Guillem Farres (Triumph). For the German defending champion Simon Längenfelder, the aim in the final stages of the MX2 World Championship is to finish the 2026 season on the podium. He trails Camden Mc Lellan, who is third in the standings, by 10 points.
