Superbike restart at Magny-Cours: Three world championships and a cup

The ninth round of the 2026 World Superbike Championship will take place at the historic Magny-Cours circuit – at last, after a summer break of almost two months. The Circuit de Nevers is one of the most popular venues on the production-based World Championship calendar and has featured on it without interruption since 2003. The early September date has been the norm since 2021, to avoid the vagaries of autumnal weather.

This year, alongside the top category and the Supersport World Championship, the new Sportbike series will also be on the grid. The supporting programme will also feature the fourth round of the R3 World Cup.

As Formula 1 is taking place at Monza on the same weekend, there will be a slight deviation from the standard schedule. Normally, the main races in the Superbike category on Saturday and Sunday form the grand finale. In France, however, this will only be the case on Saturday. On the final day of racing, the Sportbike series will take place at the end of the event, whilst the Superbike World Championship will already be holding its second race at 2.00 pm.
