6h Fuji 2026: Reactions to the upcoming FIA WEC round

The time has come: the FIA WEC is set to hold the sixth round of the 2026 season from 25 to 27 September. The World Championship is heading to Japan for this round – which naturally means Toyota will be on home turf. The 4.563-kilometre circuit at Fuji has an exciting layout and is quite popular with the drivers. 35 cars have been entered for the event, led by 17 Hypercars. Generally speaking, the WEC paddock is very optimistic about the Japanese round. Here are a few comments.

Mike Conway – Toyota TR010 Hybrid

“We’re all looking forward to Fuji because it’s our home race – and staying in Japan is simply brilliant. It’s always great fun to catch up with our partners and colleagues from Toyota. Driving the TR010 Hybrid around the Fuji circuit is sure to be great fun too, as it’s a very challenging track where you first have to find the right line. We’ve achieved some great results there in the past and hope to do so again this year.”

Will Stevens – Cadillac V-Series.R

“Fuji is always a challenging race, as you have to adapt to a wide variety of conditions – the weather can be very changeable and difficult to predict. What’s more, tyre wear is quite high. So it’s all about finding the right balance between maximum speed and a driving style that’s gentle on the tyres. The team has recently secured two podium finishes in a row and is on a good run – we now want to take that momentum with us to Fuji.”

Nick Cassidy – Peugeot 9X8

“I’m really looking forward to Fuji. It almost feels like a home race to me. I have lots of special memories of this circuit and can’t wait to drive the Peugeot 9X8 in front of the Japanese fans. The team is working incredibly hard and making progress in many areas. Our aim is to turn this work into a clean race weekend and achieve a strong result.”

Antonio Fuoco – Ferrari 499P

“Following our fantastic victory in Austin, we’re returning to the circuit in Japan. It was an enormously important result for our crew and the whole team with a view to the final three races of the season. We know that Fuji has been a difficult circuit for us in the past. However, as always, we will give our best to continue our positive run, which has already brought Ferrari a podium finish in Brazil and a victory in America.”
