Comtoyou Racing is evaluating Formula 2 runner-up Jak Crawford for the 2027 DTM

At the DTM test in Hockenheim, Comtoyou Racing is already preparing for the 2027 DTM season. Instead of regular drivers Nicki Thiim and Nicolas Baert, American driver Jak Crawford will be racing for the Belgian Aston Martin team. Crawford will be driving the #8 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 at the one-day DTM test on the circuit in Baden.

Crawford competed in Formula 2 between 2023 and 2025, securing at least one victory each year. In 2025, the 21-year-old finished as runner-up in the world’s top junior formula series, having claimed five race wins. The ADAC series is also familiar territory for Jak Crawford, as he finished as runner-up in the ADAC Formula 4 championship in 2020.

Furthermore, Jak Crawford is currently a test and reserve driver for the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team and has already taken part in several test sessions and practice runs with the team.

“We are using today’s test to get to know Jak Crawford better with a view to our DTM plans for 2027. As an Aston Martin Formula 1 reserve driver, he brings an interesting background to the table, and we are looking forward to giving him the opportunity to test our DTM car,” said Mario Schuhbauer, who heads up Comtoyou Racing’s DTM programme, speaking to GT-Place. “As we are deliberately focusing on this driver assessment today, we are fielding just one car and using our other resources for different tasks. That is why Nicki and Nico are not racing today.”
