MotoGP sponsor roulette: Red Bull returns to Honda in 2027

There are still seven rounds to go in the 2026 MotoGP season. The rider line-up for the 2027 season and beyond has long since been finalised. The situation is different when it comes to the race to secure major sponsors. Honda is set to introduce a spectacular innovation – or rather, a comeback! The logo of energy drink manufacturer Red Bull is set to reappear on the 850cc bikes of newcomer Fabio Quartararo and, in all likelihood, Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira in the 2027 season (it has not yet been confirmed who Quartararo’s team-mate will be – Moreira or David Alonso).

In return, Red Bull’s involvement with KTM Tech3 is set to come to an end – the owners, led by Günther Steiner, will therefore be seeking new partners. It remains to be seen whether Fabio Quartararo, like Moreira, will also become a Red Bull athlete at Honda from 2027. As a reminder: Red Bull parted ways with Honda at the end of the 2023 season after many successful years. At that time, world champion Marc Márquez also left the Japanese manufacturer – he moved to Gresini Ducati. The partnership between Honda and Red Bull had begun in the 2015 season.

Yamaha must find a new main sponsor

One thing is clear: Yamaha, too, will have to stretch itself to the limit. Title sponsor Monster has already joined Aprilia’s factory team and will be pulling out of the Japanese team entirely in 2027. Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura’s future employer is therefore on the hunt for a new title sponsor. The years of lacklustre sporting results in the MotoGP World Championship have not been kind to the Japanese manufacturer financially either.

Monster had been Yamaha’s main sponsor since 2019 – back then, Maverick Viñales and Valentino Rossi were still competing for top positions. The best result of the current season was Fabio Quartararo’s fifth place – at the shortened Grand Prix in Barcelona. At Spielberg, the best-performing M1 – ridden by Fabio Quartararo – finished in 17th place on Sunday! Yamaha is now on the hunt for a new partner – there’s certainly plenty of space available on the fairing of the Iwata-built bike at the moment.
