Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia): Training on four wheels with Valentino Rossi

This coming weekend marks the start of the Asia and Australia tour with the Japanese Grand Prix. Over the past few days, the MotoGP stars have been preparing for October’s gruelling schedule – next month will see four Grands Prix take place within five weeks.

For instance, Pedro Acosta (KTM) practised on a flat-track bike in Barcelona, whilst Jorge Martin (Aprilia) clocked up the kilometres on a road bike. Marco Bezzecchi followed a different training programme. Last weekend, the Italian was out on the go-kart track with MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi and VR46 Academy mate Franco Morbidelli. The track is located in Viserba, north of Rimini – just a few kilometres from ‘Bez’s’ home.

Bezzecchi is currently performing very consistently in the MotoGP World Championship. The 27-year-old has secured seven podium finishes (sprints and Grands Prix) in the last eight races. Most recently, he finished third twice at Spielberg. However, his retirement from his home Grand Prix at Misano was a bitter blow for him.

In the World Championship standings, Marco Bezzecchi sits in third place with 264 points ahead of the final seven events of the season. He is currently 42 points behind his team-mate Jorge Martín. Marc Márquez, who is currently second, has 30 more points to his name.
