The MotoGP World Championship heads to Motegi this coming weekend, where the Japanese Grand Prix will take place. Before heading there, Yamaha star Fabio Quartararo made a detour to India. There, the 27-year-old Frenchman was the guest of honour at a major Yamaha event on Monday.
The occasion was a track day organised by Yamaha India as part of the launch of the new YZF-R2 sports bike. The event took place at the Madras International Circuit near the city of Chennai. The circuit is also known as ‘The Home of Indian Motorsport’ – a nod to the Silverstone circuit in the UK.

Quartararo took to the track himself on the lightweight 200cc bike. Also present during the trip to India were the two Yamaha MotoGP riders, Jack Miller and Alex Rins. Miller in particular – who is set to continue under the Yamaha banner in the World Superbike Championship in 2027 – was in high spirits and performed a few stunts on a scooter. The only rider missing from the Yamaha stars’ appearance this time was Pramac rider Toprak Razgatlioglu.
The three MotoGP heroes made a surprise appearance to the delight of the dealers and journalists who had travelled to the event, initially drawing looks of disbelief. A large group photo was also taken with the MotoGP guests to commemorate the event. Quartararo had previously visited India a few years ago alongside his then team-mate Franco Morbidelli.
