McLaren driver Ben Dörr sets fastest time at DTM test day at the Hockenheimring

The final DTM test of the 2026 season took place two weeks before the season finale at the Hockenheimring. Seventeen DTM drivers took part in the test session: Timo Glock, Marco Mapelli, Nicki Thiim and Nicolas Baert chose not to attend. Jak Crawford made his debut in the Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 on the test day. Furthermore, 24 Hours of Nürburgring winner Fabian Schiller stood in for Jules Gounon, as the latter had travelled to Fuji in Japan for the WEC.

The fastest lap time of the test day was set by two-time race winner Ben Dörr in the Dörr Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3. The McLaren junior completed a lap of the historic Baden circuit in 1:37.118 minutes.

Matteo Cairoli came second in the Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3. The Italian, who has won three races so far in his debut season, was 0.127 seconds off Dörr’s fastest time.

Marco Wittmann rounded off the top three in the Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3.

All eyes were on the debut of Jak Crawford in the Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3. The Belgian team was testing the American, who finished runner-up in Formula 2 last year, ahead of the 2027 DTM season. Crawford finished the test in 18th place, although the GT rookie improved steadily with every lap and set his fastest lap in the afternoon session with a time of 1:38.531 minutes.
