Lamborghini shock – Mirko Bortolotti loses victory at Oschersleben

Mirko Bortolotti lost the victory in Sunday’s DTM race at Oschersleben, which was set to be the Lamborghini Temerario GT3’s first triumph worldwide. Following an extensive investigation on Thursday at the Nürburgring, the race stewards decided that the car had been disqualified due to a breach of Article 5.1 of the sporting regulations.

During a routine inspection of a total of four cars, it was found that the seized wheel bearing from Mirko Bortolotti’s car did not comply with DTM GT3 homologation or match a reference part.

The drivers behind him move up the order, meaning that Maro Engel wins the race in the WINWARD Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 ahead of Thomas Preining and Marco Wittmann.

The Grasser Racing Team has announced that it will appeal against the decision. The result remains provisional pending the appeal court’s ruling.
