Mirko Bortolotti’s disqualification confirmed by the DMSB Court of Appeal

Winner Mirko Bortolotti was disqualified from Sunday’s DTM race at Oschersleben. The Grasser Racing Team’s Lamborghini Temerario GT3 was fitted with a wheel bearing that did not comply with DTM GT3 homologation or a reference part. As this constitutes a breach of Article 5.1 of the sporting regulations, the car was removed from the results.

On 13 August, the Grasser Racing Team announced an appeal within the stipulated time limit. The team lodged this appeal within the stipulated time limit and, following the granting of an extension, submitted written grounds for the appeal.

The hearing before the DMSB Appeals Tribunal finally took place this Friday afternoon and was chaired by lawyer Rainer Wicke.

Wicke dismissed the appeal, thereby confirming the disqualification of the 2024 DTM champion.

During a routine inspection of a total of four cars, it was found that the seized wheel bearing from Mirko Bortolotti’s Lamborghini Temerario GT3 did not comply with DTM GT3 homologation or match a reference part.

The Court of Appeal thus upheld the decision of the stewards, who had excluded Bortolotti from the results. Grasser lodged an appeal against the decision, as a clarification from 2024 states that the use of the wheel bearing is permitted and this document is still available for download in the 2024 section of the DTM team area, for archiving purposes.
