As part of the partnership between the DTM and the New England Patriots, the #29 Porsche 911 GT3 R from Land-Motorsport will sport a new livery in the colours of the US NFL team at the DTM finale at the Hockenheimring. The Porsche will be driven by the Dane Bastian Buus, the newly crowned champion of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, who also won the 24 Hours of Spa – the world’s biggest GT3 race – this June.
“We are delighted about this partnership with the New England Patriots and the striking new livery for our Porsche,” explains team principal Christian Land ahead of the weekend at Hockenheim. “The Patriots are one of the most popular NFL teams in Germany and therefore bring enormous appeal. Together, we want to expand the reach of both sports and capitalise on the synergies between the teams.”
Many DTM fans are already familiar with the New England Patriots from the paddock, as the six-time Super Bowl champions have been a strategic partner of the DTM for around a year. With the Land-Motorsport Porsche sporting the Patriots’ livery, the partnership will now take centre stage on the track at the season finale. At the same time, the appearance at Hockenheim forms part of the Patriots’ “Road to Munich”: on Sunday 15 November, the team will face the Detroit Lions at the Allianz Arena. Until then, the Patriots aim to get their fans in Germany in the mood for the match through a series of selected events.
“Seeing a Porsche in our colours at the DTM finale is something very special for us too. Thanks to Christian Land and his team for making this possible,” says Alex Foster, Senior Manager of International Business at the New England Patriots. “The race at Hockenheim is an important stop for us on our journey to Munich. Here, we reach sports fans who value passion, speed and teamwork just as much as we do. We hope to get them excited about American football and to see many of them again in Munich on 15 November.”
As part of the DTM, Land-Motorsport is competing in one of the most popular and widely watched GT3 championships in Europe. The race car, the Porsche 911 GT3 R, will line up at the final in a special livery featuring the Patriots’ signature colours of red and dark blue.
The team has two races on the programme at the Hockenheimring, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. On Saturday, the race will start as usual at 1.30 pm; on Sunday, the starting lights will not turn green until 4.30 pm. And there is a very special reason for this later start time: afterwards, fans will be able to join in the ‘DTM Champions Celebration’ on the track. For all fans who cannot be there in person at Hockenheim, ProSieben will be broadcasting all the action live on free-to-air television.
