Mirko Bortolotti took second place in the Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Temerario GT3. He finished 4.777 seconds behind the Mercedes-AMG after the Italian ran out of fuel at the end of the final lap and subsequently parked the car on the cool-down lap.

Marco Wittmann completed the podium in the Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3.

On the opening lap, Thierry Vermeulen and Ricardo Feller collided before the second corner. Feller lost his front bumper in the incident and was handed three penalty laps. Preining skidded into the grass after a driving error at the Parabolica and fell far behind. In the hairpin, Vermeulen and Tom Kalender then spun, dropping them to the back of the field.

In the battle for the lead, Lucas Auer and Luca Engstler made contact several times in the second lap in front of the East Stand. Engstler then crashed heavily into the barrier. As the barrier was severely damaged when the Lamborghini Temerario GT3 struck it, the race was red-flagged. After repairs had been carried out, the race resumed behind the safety car.

After the restart, Maro Engel very quickly overtook Lucas Auer in a manoeuvre that smacked heavily of team orders.

Following his mandatory pit stop, Timo Glock and Jules Gounon collided. As a result, Glock fell far behind, sustained significant damage and parked his damaged car in the pits.

Maro Engel lost around ten seconds during his pit stop, as the WINWARD Racing team once again lost a significant amount of time during the pit stop this year.

The two title contenders, Maro Engel and Marco Wittmann, battled for the final podium place. Engel overtook the BMW in front of the East Stand, but in doing so forced it off the track. Race control subsequently ordered the two veterans to swap positions.
