DTM car classifications to be completely revised for Sunday

The SRO Technical Commission is making significant adjustments to the DTM car classifications for the second round at the Norisring. BMW and Porsche are being given a better classification – whilst Aston Martin, Ford, McLaren and Mercedes-AMG are being held back.

The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 must carry an additional 15 kilograms. The minimum weight is now 1,315 kilograms.

The BMW M4 GT3 is permitted to remove ten kilograms and will now compete with a minimum weight of 1,300 kilograms, without any BoP ballast. This makes the BMW the lightest car on the DTM grid at the Norisring on Sunday. In addition, the maximum boost pressure has increased by 0.02 bar to 2.48 bar.

The Ford Mustang GT3 must add ten kilograms, bringing its minimum weight up to 1,325 kilograms.

The McLaren 720S GT3 must also add ten kilograms of ballast. This brings its minimum weight up to 1,310 kilograms.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 must also carry an additional ten kilograms, bringing its minimum weight to 1,350 kilograms. Furthermore, the lambda value will be increased from 0.91 to 0.93, which reduces engine power due to a higher proportion of air in the combustion chamber.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R is permitted to shed 15 kilograms and will compete with a minimum weight of 1,310 kilograms. Consequently, following a difficult Saturday, the Porsche will compete without any BoP ballast.
