After judgement for Gasly/Alpine (Monaco 3rd): Three teams take action against FIA!

Embarrassing, embarrassing for the FIA: On 12 June, the rule makers had to admit that the pit lane in Monaco had been measured incorrectly, by 77 cm, so two time penalties against Pierre Gasly and Alpine were not justified.

The Frenchmen were able to prove that they were never faster than the maximum permitted 60 km/h in the pits, so the penalties were declared null and void, and Gasly secured his sixth podium finish of his F1 career, the first since Brazil 2024.

So Gasly was not seventh, but quite rightly third. But that also means: Isack Hadjar (Red Bull Racing) not third, but fourth; Oscar Piastri (McLaren) not fourth, but fifth, followed by the two Racing Bulls drivers Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad.

And since RBR, McLaren and the Bulls lost points, it was to be expected what would happen next: they want to appeal the FIA's decision in favour of Gasly/Alpine, and a letter of intent to this effect has been submitted to the world motor sport governing body. According to the regulations, such a declaration must be submitted within 60 minutes. The teams then have four days to decide whether they really want to appeal.

We have already had both situations in comparable cases: That a team really does take action against the FIA or that - if the situation ultimately seems hopeless - it withdraws the declaration of intent.
