In July 2021, a Formula 1 weekend in the so-called sprint format took place at Silverstone for the first time, with a free practice session and qualifying for the Grand Prix on Friday, followed by a free practice session and the Sprint on Saturday; the result of the Sprint then determined the starting grid for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

In 2022, 2023 and 2024, Formula 1 in Austria was held in the sprint format, but in 2025 the premier class returned to the traditional schedule – the next sprint after Montreal in May will then take place at Silverstone.

As well as plenty of action from the Formula 1 drivers, visitors to the Red Bull Ring can look forward to a packed supporting programme – featuring future GP stars from the junior series Formula 3 and Formula 2, as well as the specialists from the Porsche Supercup.
