Comparison with F1 legend Ayrton Senna: Kimi Antonelli speaks plainly

Everything is going like clockwork for Kimi Antonelli at the moment. The star driver, who is only 19 years old, has been going from GP success to GP success, beating the rest of the Formula 1 field on race Sunday five times in a row. Most recently, the teenager from Bologna celebrated the prestigious GP victory on the demanding street circuit of Monte Carlo.

With his strong start to the season, he has not only secured the championship lead and an impressive 66-point advantage over his Mercedes predecessor and first rival Lewis Hamilton. Some fans and GP observers are already comparing him to the sport's greatest. One name in particular comes up frequently: that of GP legend Ayrton Senna.

What does Antonelli have to say about this flattering comparison? "I haven't read that and, to be honest, I don't like the comparison at all, because I don't feel it's appropriate to be compared with a driver who made Formula 1 history. I haven't even come close to achieving what he has. That's why I don't think it's particularly fair."

"And I personally don't really like it either. And yes, he's my idol, he's someone who inspires me, but I just don't think it's really appropriate to be compared to him, especially at this stage of my career. Because it's just the beginning and there's still so much to achieve, so much to do and so much to improve, and I feel that I'm still very far from his level," the Italian clarified.
