Nico Hülkenberg (Audi/12th) is dissatisfied: “We’ve lost our way”

Nico Hülkenberg’s fans were still holding out hope: in the first segment of the final practice session for the British Grand Prix, the 38-year-old Audi driver found himself in fourth place. But then the Silver Bulls’ pace vanished into thin air. The Emmerich-born driver was handed 12th on the grid because Pierre Gasly received a grid penalty.

Nico, who finished a sensational third on this circuit a year ago, said: “I’m not at all satisfied. Q1 went well, but Q2 didn’t. Somehow we lost our rhythm a bit and didn’t manage any clean runs.”

“The final attempt was strange because the car directly in front of me suddenly pulled into the pits, so there was no one in front of me anymore. On that lap, I lost quite a bit of time on the straight because I was missing that indirect slipstream. All in all, Q2 was simply a washout.”

“We now have to seize every opportunity in the race. If we play our cards right, we still have a chance to make up places.”

The two Audis will start the historic British Grand Prix from row 6, with Gabriel Bortoleto in P11 and Hülki in P12.
