World Champion Norris (McLaren): “If that happens, Ferrari will dominate”

Lewis Hamilton is on a roll with Ferrari: three podium finishes in a row – second in Canada, second in Monte Carlo, then his first Grand Prix victory in red at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

World Champion Lando Norris is impressed. The 26-year-old Englishman has only been on the podium twice in 2026 (second in Miami, third in Catalonia), with his last victory dating back to Brazil in 2025.

The eleven-time Grand Prix winner has witnessed first-hand how Ferrari has improved in recent weeks. Speaking to his colleagues at Sky Sports F1, Norris said: “We’re lucky that Ferrari don’t currently have a better engine. If they had a more powerful engine, they’d be dominating.”

“They’re the best in the field when it comes to cornering, and we’re not even close to that level. We’re miles away from where we need to be. If they make improvements on the engine front, they’ll eclipse everyone.”

“We at McLaren really need to get a move on and see what improvements we can make. But some things take time. We need to speed up our progress because we want to be in the mix.”
