Florian Alt retires his Honda Fireblade with two third-place finishes

At the end of the 2026 Euro Moto season, Florian Alt bid farewell to his Team HRP Honda Fireblade, having secured a total of ten wins, 30 podium finishes and an IDM Superbike title from 2023. Next year, having already signed a two-year contract with HRP boss Jens Holzhauer last year, he will line up at the start of the series – which will then be known as the IDM once again – on a brand-new Honda model.

“I’m absolutely delighted,” he said after crossing the line in third place at the Hockenheimring in the penultimate race of the season. “It was a gruelling race. I knew that the BMWs are incredibly strong here, just as they have been in recent years. They proved that again today. But we’ve managed to squeeze so much more out of the Fireblade. I don’t know where we actually keep finding that extra bit of pace. But it was the fastest lap of the race. I was really pushing hard on fresh tyres, but they wore out relatively quickly; from then on, our edge was a bit blunted. But I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to HRC in Japan for the incredible development of the SC82. It’s an amazing Fireblade. We’ve now got ten wins and 29 podium finishes. Arigato to Japan.”

Took it one step further

After the second race and the end-of-season rituals at the Sachskurve, Alt had still got a bit of tyre life left and pulled up in front of the podium with a burnout to mark his third-place finish. It was his 30th podium finish overall on his Fireblade, which is now being retired. “I’m absolutely proud,” he said, looking at his motorbike. “The bike is still absolutely brilliant. Anyone who’s ever ridden one will know that. I’m absolutely thrilled and glad there have been those little updates over the years. But it’s time to slowly start saying goodbye. And goodbye to all the fans, too. It was another massive event. I don’t know how many spectators were there, but I reckon it was a record.
