Mysterious illness: Joan Mir to miss the Japanese and Indonesian Grands Prix as well

After Joan Mir was forced to retire from the Misano Grand Prix and had to miss the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, he underwent a series of tests at the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona under the supervision of MotoGP’s chief medical officer, Dr Angel Charte, and his medical team. “The aim was to identify the cause of a series of symptoms from which the Honda rider has been suffering for several months and which have recently worsened to such an extent that he is no longer able to compete in the MotoGP World Championship,” according to a press release issued on 22 September.

So far, the tests have not yielded any clear results, which is why Dr Angel Charte has prescribed strict bed rest and rehabilitation therapy for Joan Mir for the next 15 days. As a result, the Spaniard will have to miss the Grands Prix in Japan (2–4 October) and Indonesia (9–11 October).
