Hamilton, Verstappen, Schumacher: drivers with a lot of seat leather in Formula 1

Celebrations in Catalonia: McLaren really is racing in its 1000th Grand Prix (there were celebrations in Monte Carlo), George Russell is contesting his 100th Grand Prix in the service of Mercedes.

Russell is a long way off the Formula 1 record in terms of seat leather. Lewis Hamilton has competed an incredible 246 times for Mercedes!

This record will probably fall in 2027: Because Max Verstappen now stands at 216 appearances for Red Bull Racing.

It is no coincidence that the London-born Thai Alex Albon is wearing a helmet design à la Nigel Mansell this weekend: Albon will be competing for the 96th time for the traditional English racing team Williams at the 2026 Barcelona GP, once more than the previous record holder Mansell.
