Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari): Brother Nicolas left speechless after ride in F1 racing car

What’s it like to be in a Formula 1 racing car? For most fans, this remains an unanswered question, as there are very few places where you can actually drive an F1 car – and even then, at exorbitant prices.

To give people a taste of Formula 1, Ferrari has built a three-seater. And it was precisely in this car that superstar Lewis Hamilton recently gave his brother Nicolas a ride. The 34-year-old touring car racer Nicolas is absolutely blown away, as he shared on Instagram.

Nicolas writes: “Lewis rang and offered me the chance of a lifetime: to be a passenger in a three-seater Ferrari Formula 1 car, with him at the wheel! I flew to Fiorano and was the first one in the car. I couldn’t believe it! The craziest moment was that I’d been standing behind Lewis’s F1 car in the garage for years, but this time I slid into the car, right behind his right shoulder. It was a very surreal moment.”

“The car was a 2005 model with a V10 engine. When the drive began, I was simply overwhelmed by the sound and the speed, but I soon slipped into ‘proud big brother’ mode and just watched Lewis. Having been part of his career for 34 years – following him to every racetrack as a child, from karting right through to Formula 1 – I was finally able to experience what all that hard work was for and what it felt like to be him.”

“Although he’s my brother, I got to experience the best driver of this generation taking me for a spin in a Ferrari Formula 1 car on the Ferrari F1 test track. What an honour and a privilege. A day and a moment I’ll never forget.”
