Max Verstappen ahead of the Silverstone circus act: “Are we children or clowns?”

Many fans found it amusing, and some drivers were transformed back into children: at the 2025 Miami drivers’ parade, ten Lego electric cars took to the track, and the inevitable happened – many of the 400,000 bricks (per car) were left behind on the track.

The sight of the GP stars in Lego cars provoked highly mixed reactions amongst the fans. Many found it amusing, whilst others thought it was an unnecessary circus act. At Silverstone, the spectacle is being expanded; there will now be not ten Lego cars on the track, but 22.

Two camps have also formed amongst the main protagonists: some drivers find it amusing, others think it’s unnecessary. Four-time world champion Max Verstappen belongs to the ‘unnecessary’ camp.

Max says of the upcoming spectacle (from 2.00 pm CEST): “As far as I’m concerned, I’ll just get it over and done with as quickly as possible; I’ll wave to the fans because they deserve it. But if it were up to me, we’d have a completely normal drivers’ parade.”

“What on earth is wrong with an electric lorry driving us round? That’s perfectly fine. But it is what it is – things like that aren’t up to me.”

We’re Formula 1 drivers. Are we children and clowns trying to ram into one another? The premier class really doesn’t need that sort of thing.”
