Marcel Brenner: Taken to Switzerland by air ambulance following the Most crash

It was a serious crash that took Swiss rider Marcel Brenner out of the race last Sunday during the sweltering heat of the Euro Moto Supersport event in Most, the Czech Republic. After a stop at the local clinic, he was flown home from Prague by air ambulance. He was admitted to the Insel Hospital, the University Hospital in Bern.

Brenner posted an update on Instagram. “Not exactly the news I’d have liked to share with you,” he wrote. “Following my crash in Most, I was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebra, a broken rib and a chest contusion. The spinal surgery is due to take place this week.” If everything goes to plan, he will undergo surgery on Wednesday 1 July 2026.

Surgery first, then rehab

“Once that’s behind me, the hardest part should be over, and I can focus fully on my recovery. From then on, we’ll take it step by step and return to training and the motorbike as soon as the time is right. I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped me after the crash. To all the marshals and first-aiders at the race track, my team, my family, my girlfriend, the Swiss Air Rescue Service (Rega) and every single person working at the hospitals in Most and Bern. So many people have looked after me over the last few days, and I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done.”

“His excellent physical condition and a huge dose of luck were on his side,” explained his father, Bruno Brenner, on euromoto.racing. He was an eyewitness at the scene of the accident in Most. “Even the doctors believed it was a miracle after seeing the video footage.”

“Many thanks also to everyone who sent me messages and wished me a speedy recovery,” said Marcel Brenner. “Your support really means a great deal to me. I know that many of you are still waiting for a reply. Please bear with me and give me a little time. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.”
