Agius on Miller: “It’s disappointing that he won’t be there!”

Following the MotoGP race weekend, the 850cc test with Pirelli tyres took place in Spielberg on Monday. Regular and test riders from all five manufacturers competing in the premier class were out on the track at the Red Bull Ring. The test also saw a rare convergence: with Jack Miller and Senna Agius, two Australians were on the track at the same time riding MotoGP bikes.

It was an event that is unlikely to be repeated any time soon. Whilst Moto2 ace Agius is set to move up to MotoGP in 2027, Miller will be leaving the GP paddock at the end of 2026. The 31-year-old will be racing for the Yamaha works team in the World Superbike Championship next year. That is why Miller will no longer be taking part in the Valencia test on 1 December – Agius will then be having his first official day’s work at KTM Tech3.

Agius on Miller: “He’s a good friend of mine”

Senna Agius would have been delighted to ride alongside his compatriot – at least for one season. “I really wanted to be on the grid with Jack, so it’s a bit of a let-down that he won’t be there,” the 21-year-old told colleagues at motogp.com. “He’s a good friend of mine and has set the bar very high for Australian motorsport and all the young talent from Australia for a long time to come.”

Agius will therefore be flying the Australian flag in MotoGP from now on. “I’m incredibly proud to take on this responsibility and simply want to make my country proud,” he said, looking ahead. “Australia is very close to my heart, and I hold the country in high regard. I never forget where I come from and try to stay true to myself. I really feel like an Australian.”
