Here’s what Domenicali and Dall’Igna had to say about the contract extension with Marquez

The MotoGP community has had to wait a long time for this, and there has been plenty of speculation – but now it’s official: Marc Márquez and Ducati Lenovo will continue their title chase together in 2027 and 2028. The news of the contract extension came on 23 June – one day after the Pirelli test with the 850cc prototypes in Brno and two days after Marquez’s 101st Grand Prix victory.

MM93 and Ducati Lenovo are determined to secure further victories and titles. Anything other than a continuation of their shared success story would have been a surprise.

“Extending Marc’s contract for the 2027 and 2028 seasons is the most obvious decision following the incredible successes we’ve achieved together in his first season in the red jersey,” confirmed Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali. “He has brought to an already successful team a mentality that is – if that is even possible – even more determined, as well as an extraordinary fighting spirit. Marc is not only an exceptional talent, but also perfectly embodies the Ducati mentality, which is characterised by great commitment and a willingness to make sacrifices, as well as by harmony within the team and the ability to deliver professional performance even in a light-hearted and relaxed atmosphere. Continuing together means ensuring continuity for a successful project and thus approaching the coming seasons with the aim of keeping Ducati at the top of MotoGP.”

Ducati Corse CEO Gigi Dall’Igna is also delighted to continue the journey together next year. The new MotoGP regulations come into force in 2027. Embarking on this new chapter with the nine-time champion and such an experienced rider gives Ducati the necessary peace of mind and confidence.
