Verstappen, a 71-time Grand Prix winner and four-time Formula 1 world champion, is planning his future beyond his career as a racing driver. And he has revealed part of these plans to the Dutch magazine Formule 1. Verstappen is taking a leaf out of Alonso’s book: his own museum!

At the end of June 2015, Alonso, a native of Asturias, opened the ‘Museo y Circuito Fernando Alonso’ in Cayés (Llanera), not far from his hometown of Oviedo – a museum with its own go-kart track. The exhibition area covers 1,200 square metres (slightly less than two football pitches).

Speaking about the possibility of having his own museum, Verstappen says: “I’m thinking about where we could set one up. I’d really love to do that one day. Fernando Alonso has done it in Spain, and I think it’s brilliant. We could also display all the Formula 1 cars there. I see it as a place of inspiration and motivation for young people.”
