Juan Pablo Montoya: “These drivers will shine at Madring”

A fellow journalist joked ahead of the first day of practice at the new Madrid Formula 1 circuit, Madring: “Is it Madring or the Mad Ring?”

The new Madrid circuit is indeed a bit mad, as SPEEDWEEK.com discovered during an exclusive tour of the track.

Colombian-born American Juan Pablo Montoya has also taken a closer look at the Madring. The 2002 and 2003 World Championship bronze medallist is deeply impressed. And he already has a hunch as to which drivers will look particularly good on the Madrid circuit.

The driver, who has competed in 94 Grand Prix races, told the BetBrothers website: “I expect Kimi Antonelli to surpass himself once again on the Madring; it’s a circuit right up his street.”

“I’m also expecting great things from Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso on the Madring. Lewis Hamilton can bring all his experience to bear – that’s worth its weight in gold here.”
