Honda Snipers team surprises with line-up change: Singhapong replaces Carraro

The Moto3 World Championship, dominated by Maximo Quiles, is all but decided after 15 races. Nicola Carraro sits bottom of the overall standings and has yet to score any World Championship points. This is not good enough for Team Snipers – nor for the rider himself. Following the Austrian Grand Prix, the Italians went their separate ways. There was no bad blood. In an official letter, the team managed by Mirco Cecchini thanked the unsuccessful Carraro: “The team respects and supports the decision of the rider with start number 10 to strike out in a new direction and take on new challenges, and wishes him all the best for the rest of his career and for the future.”

Within the Moto3 Honda team landscape, a successor was recruited and presented. Kiattisak Singhapong will replace the Italian for the final phase of the 2026 season. The Thai rider has just completed the 2026 Red Bull Rookies Cup season at the Austrian Grand Prix, having finished on the podium twice during the season and ending the series in 8th place. The 21-year-old is also competing in the Junior World Championship as part of Honda Asia’s development programme and is currently ranked 9th.

Singhapong has also been called up once as a Moto3 World Championship reserve rider. At Silverstone, the Thai rider stood in for the injured Zen Mitani – and, finishing 15th, scored one point – more than Carraro has managed so far this season. The move was made possible with support from his home country.

Honda Thailand, along with its racing department, is helping to bridge the budget gap. Whilst Nicola Carraro’s racing future remains unclear, Kiattisak Singhapong will be able to clock up plenty of GP kilometres. If the youngster performs well at the seven remaining official events, the 2027 World Championship opener in Thailand could once again be celebrated with a local hero.
