What a showstopper: Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale ‘Perla Nera®’ unveiled

Today, one of the most striking interpretations of the personalisation programme for the new 33 Stradale was unveiled at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese. The supercar from the brand with the ‘Biscione’, produced in a strictly limited run of just 33 units and inspired by the legendary 33 Stradale from 1967, is presented as an exclusive creation named ‘Perla Nera®’ – a name specifically chosen and registered by the owner. It perfectly captures the car’s unmistakable, all-black identity, which stems from the expressive power and richness of the carbon fibre.

Designed and developed in line with the vision of its owner – a passionate collector and profound connoisseur of the automotive world – ‘Perla Nera®’ embodies a bold and instantly recognisable character, both in its exterior design and its interior. The result of an ongoing dialogue between the customer and the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile.

The result is an all-black 33 Stradale, the sole example of this supercar’s strictly limited series, in which matt-finished carbon fibre is not merely a technical material but becomes an integral part of the vehicle’s design language. This is evident in the distinctive arrangement of the carbon fibre, which interacts with the model’s flowing Alfa Romeo lines, emphasising its symmetry and volume whilst simultaneously highlighting the dynamism of its design and the power of its curves. On the bonnet, for example, the carbon fibre highlights the characteristic V-shaped motif, whilst a herringbone pattern becomes a recurring graphic element that guides the eye from front to rear along the roofline. The result is a perfect synergy between the iconic design of the 33 Stradale and the material and graphic qualities of carbon fibre.

To achieve this striking effect, a specialised production process was required, combining technological innovation with Italian craftsmanship. Specifically, the carbon was laid into the mould by hand, with each fibre positioned with the utmost precision to follow the contours of the surfaces and emphasise their shapes and volumes. The same meticulous care was applied at every subsequent stage, from rigorous quality controls through to final assembly. The design of the carbon fibre laminate and all associated technical aspects were coordinated step by step with the owner, in keeping with a truly bespoke approach.

The monochrome appearance is completed by two unique features of the 33 Stradale ‘Perla Nera®’: exclusive, all-black wheels and the absence of external emblems – with the sole exception of the Alfa Romeo brand emblems – thereby maintaining the continuity of the surfaces and ensuring the carbon fibre weave takes centre stage.

The same stylistic coherence and pursuit of exclusivity continue in the interior, where the combination of carbon fibre elements and a full Alcantara trim creates a refined, inviting ambience characterised by subtle tone-on-tone contrasts. Every detail has been specifically developed to suit the owner’s aesthetic preferences, as demonstrated by the bespoke sports seat, which has undergone a comprehensive and extremely detailed redesign to meet specific comfort and performance requirements. The seat was designed and developed specifically to the owner’s body measurements, based on targeted fittings and consultations.

This bespoke development went beyond ergonomic and dimensional considerations and involved a reinterpretation of the characteristic Alfa Romeo ‘Cannelloni’ seat pattern, which is subsequently also reflected in the door panels and side skirts to ensure stylistic consistency throughout the interior. Similarly, the headrest was redesigned to optimise the contact surface and to incorporate a carbon fibre insert bearing the inscription ‘Perla Nera®’ – a designation that recurs in several interior details. It appears on the door panel, engraved on a special badge bearing the Alfa Romeo logo, as well as in the storage compartment, which has been relocated to the rear bulkhead and is supported by a specially designed bracket.

The set of luggage, fully upholstered in black Alcantara, also bears the vehicle’s serial number, whilst the Alfa rotary switch has been personalised with the owner’s initials. The overall look is rounded off by the legendary Quadrifoglio and Autodelta emblems, which are only visible in the interior and discreetly emphasise the authentic link to the brand’s motorsport heritage.

Under the bonnet lies a powerful 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine delivering over 630 PS. Combined with an eight-speed DCT gearbox and rear-wheel drive, it achieves a top speed of 333 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds. Furthermore, the H-frame aluminium chassis and the carbon-fibre monocoque ensure exceptional lightness and rigidity, putting technology at the service of the performance and driving pleasure that have always characterised Alfa Romeo.

As the technological heart of the 33 Stradale, carbon fibre finds its highest aesthetic expression in Perla Nera®. Its woven structure, revealed with refined subtlety, becomes an exclusive stylistic signature that transforms the material into pure emotion.
