Growth for the DTM? Genesis Magma GT3 Concept celebrates its world premiere

Genesis 2026 is represented at the 24h Le Mans for the first time. The luxury brand from Hyundai is fielding two LMDh prototypes in the endurance classic, which showed impressive speed in practice and qualifying. The Korean brand also presented the Magma GT3 Concept at the event.

Making its global debut at Le Mans, the Genesis Magma GT3 Concept outlines a possible future direction for Genesis Magma Racing as it grows beyond its FIA WEC prototype programme. The concept has been developed as part of a long-term motorsport strategy, reflecting the growing importance of GT3 racing and its potential to strengthen the link between Genesis' road cars and racing activities. Both the Genesis brand and Genesis Magma Racing will be positioned in this category to more closely link the road and racing portfolios while further raising their profile in global motorsport.

Should Genesis opt for a GT3 programme, the DTM would be a very interesting field for the luxury brand from South Korea - in addition to entries in the LMGT3 class of the FIA WEC, the GT World Challenge Europe and endurance races on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. No GT3 racing series has more appeal due to its name and the single-seater concept, even if other racing series are sometimes far more intense in sporting terms, as the GT World Challenge Europe recently proved in Monza, when 54 cars were within a second of each other!

The Genesis Magma GT3 Concept has been developed in accordance with GT3 technical regulations and reflects a performance-orientated approach shaped by the demands of motorsport. As a standalone study, it explores how racing-inspired architecture, aerodynamics and design principles could impact future Genesis high performance cars, rather than being derived from an existing road model.

Optimised for performance, the GT3 Concept features widened track widths, a distinctive front splitter, enlarged air ducts and a door-mounted fin to improve aerodynamic efficiency and cooling. Advanced thermal management strategies and a race-orientated rear structure with fixed rear wing and diffuser support durability in endurance racing conditions.

The GT3 Concept, developed in collaboration with Hyundai Motorsport, is still in the exploratory phase, with architecture, components and possible development paths still to be defined. As one of several possible scenarios, it shows how Genesis is exploring possibilities beyond LMDh.
