After crash in Spielberg: Collin Veijer (KTM Ajo) to miss the Japanese Grand Prix

The Austrian Grand Prix was already over for Moto2 star Collin Veijer before it had even properly begun. During the first free practice session on Friday morning at the Red Bull Ring, the KTM Ajo rider broke his collarbone in a crash. He underwent successful surgery last Tuesday.

It is now certain that the Japanese Grand Prix, which takes place from 2 to 4 October, will come too soon for the 21-year-old. “Collin Veijer will miss the Japanese Grand Prix,” said a statement from KTM Ajo. He is expected to be back on his Kalex the following week. “The Dutchman continues to make steady progress in his recovery from his left collarbone injury and is expected to return to action at the Indonesian Grand Prix.”

Veijer: Still with the KTM Ajo team in 2027

In his second year in the Moto2 class, Veijer has so far secured two podium finishes – third place at Jerez and second place at Misano. The 2024 Moto3 World Championship runner-up currently lies in 10th place in the World Championship standings.

There was good news a few days ago regarding Collin Veijer’s future. He will continue to ride for Team KTM Ajo in the middleweight category of the World Motorcycle Championship in 2027. His team-mate next year will remain Jose Antonio Rueda.
