Alvaro Carpe on the season finale: “That’s where titles are always decided!”

In 2025, Alvaro Carpe enjoyed a spectacular debut season in Moto3. The winner of the 2024 Red Bull Rookies Cup made an immediate impact in the Motorcycle World Championship, finishing second in Thailand. In the races that followed, the Spaniard regularly achieved top results – ultimately securing five podium finishes and finishing fourth overall. Last year’s world champion was his KTM Ajo team-mate, Jose Antonio Rueda.

Carpe remains one of the fastest riders in the smallest category in 2026 as well. In the 15 races of the season so far, he has secured six podium finishes – most recently taking third place at Spielberg. At the Red Bull Ring, he managed to hold his own in the leading group of four riders after starting from third on the grid. Following a crash by Intact rider David Almansa, he initially kept pace with his team-mate Brian Uriarte, but lost touch in the final third of the race. Carpe crossed the line five seconds behind Uriarte and 13 seconds ahead of Eddie O’Shea.

“All in all, it was a positive day. It’s important to add another podium finish to our tally, but I think there’s still room for improvement,” said Carpe after the race. “We lacked a bit of speed in the final part of the race to really challenge my team-mate. Admittedly, when I saw I couldn’t keep up with him, I eased off a little to secure third place. We’re on the right track to take that final step forward, and that’s what we aim to achieve in the coming weeks at the races in Asia.”

Battle for the World Championship runner-up spot between Carpe, Uriarte and Almansa

With his third place at Spielberg and Almansa’s retirement, Alvaro Carpe reclaimed second place in the overall standings. World Championship leader Maximo Quiles already has a 131-point lead. “The overall standings don’t matter to us at the moment; we need to focus on ourselves – on working hard, improving and picking up as many points as possible to finish strongly in this final phase, because that’s where titles are always decided,” says Carpe, looking ahead with determination.

The battle for the World Championship runner-up spot is set to intensify over the final seven races of the season – Carpe, Almansa and Uriarte are currently separated by just one point. Quiles is now virtually certain to retain first place.
